“Musing on Dao [ 道 ] ” is a narrative poem. It was inspired by the ancient Chinese books of wisdom: Lao Zi’s [老子] ‘ Dao De Jing ’ [ 道德經 ] and Zhuang Zhou’s [莊周] Inner Chapters of ‘ Zhuang Zi ’ [ 莊子 ]. The poem comprises the following three ‘reveries’ of the narrator late in his journey of life. Reverie 1: The Wisdom of Old Sage (Inspired by Dao De Jing attributed to Lao Zi [老子] (6th-5th Century BCE). Reverie 2: Inner Voice of a Brook ( Imaginary Dialogue on Dao [道] with a pristine brook) Reverie 3: The Wisdom of Dreaming Butterfly ( Inspired by the Inner Chapter of Zhuang Zi attributed to Zhuang Zhou [莊周] c.369 – c.286 BCE).
